Season 2: the Shelter, explained
We are telling you about the most controversial mechanic before you mint, not after. This page is the disclosure.
No death. Consequences.
Stonkagotchi deliberately has no death mechanic. Neglect regresses XP, and an Alpha can fall back to Grown. In season 2, sustained neglect goes one step further: the pet leaves.
How a pet runs away
- A pet left REKT for more than 72 hours without feeding takes a neglect strike.
- Three consecutive strikes mark it a fugitive. It transfers itself to the on-chain Shelter, and its art becomes a MISSING poster.
- For 7 days, only you can reclaim it, for a $FEED fee.
- After that: open adoption. Anyone can pay the adoption fee and the NFT actually moves to its new home, with all its XP and scars intact.
Why we are doing this
Every mechanic in this collection points the same direction: the art is the biography of how it was treated. Scars reward loyalty in crashes; the Shelter is the mirror image, and on a chain named Robinhood, "taken from the neglectful, given to the caring" writes itself.
The commitments
Season 1 has no runaways: the mechanic ships only after it has been announced to holders. The reclaim window is generous, the bot will tag owners of at-risk pets before any strike lands, and if the community hates the idea, the fallback is opt-in hard mode: only enrolled pets can run away, in exchange for higher care rewards. Season 2 updates will land here first.
